He had to hand it to himself, somehow it was always easy to end up this way.

Going round and round in circles, as if dreaming might be just out of grasp. Inhaling the sweet air, he furrowed his brows and inched down the slippery incline towards fates unknown. Slightly apprehensive with good reason, every-time he managed to find his niche it all came tumbling down. Destined to roam as a feral beast, his electric orange eyes betrayed nothing but the turmoil with in. A fickle sort of wonder, intent on devouring him alive.

It was rather pleasant here, compared to his last get away this was a damn paradise. So far he managed it alone, paws gripped the cooled rocks as his pale hide slipped through towards unknown destinations. Panting at the edges he noticed the water, stomach rumbled at the thought of fish and other flesh to render useless. It might be too good to be true, either way there was no point to return too. He continued along his treacherous path,  inching his way towards the shore line when he noticed the vibrant splash of crimson upon the bank. Twitching once, curiosity rose up to claim him once more.

It was blood that lingered here, fresh as the dew clinging to the flowers. He paused to inhale it, wondering what sort of unfortunate creature might belong to it. With nothing better to do he started to stalk the shore line, huffing slightly as he made his way along. Keeping a careful eye out for trouble, he was determined to see this through. " hello?" he called out, pausing just long enough to try and catch a reply. Odds were he was just making a fool of himself again, but nothing else was new was it?

It had to be her.

The doe she spotted merely days ago was so plump and fat, it became the only prey she sought after. Orange hues locked on to that doe so intensely, she did not allow anything to distract her from her target. Venus came upon the small herd a few days ago after leaving the red wood. It was time for a change of scenery she thought to herself at one point, why not try hunting for some game? Hunger did gnaw at her stomach just recently, but the woman was good at ignoring what her body wanted. Venus needed eating but would not succumb to her hunger just yet. The idea of stalking her prey and finally hunting it down was a game to her, a game she enjoyed playing.

She found herself hunched to the fertile ground, keenly watching as the local herd basked in the flowing river before her. They stood together, drinking in peace as Venus slowly approached. She only had one prey in mind, the rest can flee for all she cared. There was a rare moment of profound silence before everything fell into place. The soft rippling noise of flowing water coursing through the river, the birds singing above her head. Then she lunged forward to begin her hunt.

So what went wrong?

Nothing at first. She chased her prey down, snapping at its legs and attempting to bring it down to finish it off. Then the damn thing used its legs to forcefully kick Venus off, forcing her to yelp and stumble back into large rocks. The woman felt the sharp stone tearing through the flesh of her hind leg, the scent of blood filled her nostrils and she released a loud yelp of pain. Her error caused the herd to scatter and flee. Now she laid on the river bank, wet and bleeding from her hind leg. How unfortunate for Venus. The woman laid still for a while, occasionally turning her head to tend to the visible wound she had. It was the voice of another wolf calling out. Attentive ears now perked and alert from the unmistakable sound of the stranger, Venus undoubtedly knew it was a matter of time before she was found. She had to leave.

With the little strength she had, Venus forced herself to gently rise from the floor with just three legs. The injured leg twitched and throbbed with pain, promptly sending a painful shock and forcing her to collapse from the sudden pain. “Fuck!” she yelled out, hissing in considerable pain. It was bad enough to be legitimately injured but in the active presence of another wolf instantly put her in a dangerous situation.

He heard her before he saw her.

An intense sort of focus as he trotted along, caught momentarily on only the stillness. And then he heard her. A sharp curse rebuking everything else, he paused for a moment as he attempted to locate. The stench of deer and wolf alike, captivating in it's own way. He held no animosity and sleuthed forth to greet the voice that was so frantic.

She was a small grey splash upon the planet.

Blood leaked freely, iron stained upon his nostrils. Once upon a time he might have attempted to wreck such things even more. However now he paused a good few feet off, before glancing around. As if help might arrive. The debate over, he turned his attention to the moss upon the rocks. Tugging slight he came away with quite a mouthful and stood in stolience. A swish of his soul, left to run rampant umpong things.

Dropping the moss, he reclined slightly and offered up his best attempt at a soothing approach. " I could help." and that was all. Awaiting further instruction, heavy was as heavy does. A small smile, friendlessness conveyed, despite these oh so rough of times.

Damn it all.

She was foolish enough to make the first move, wanting to stay clear from any stranger. Hunting alone had never been this much of an issue so why now? The blood that spilled freely from her hind leg instantly filled her nostrils, rightfully earning a sense of genuine fear from the wounded woman. Her blood would attract others, and she did not want them here. Venus laid upon the earth, her paws barely dipping into the banks of the river and the other half of her body rested on the moist ground. Orange hues were wide, she gazed back and forth with her ears perked and twitching to the distinctive sound of the gentle wind as she sincerely hoped no one would approach.

Regrettably, someone did.

His distinctive scent captured her attention first. Wild eyes were eagerly searching for him, wondering when he would approach with his teeth bare and his claws ready to strike her down. His pale form finally revealed to Venus. Her body trembled, lips curled back to bare her fangs as a deep growl emitted from her throat. She was defensive. Eyes narrowed and ears pinned back. Even the hackles along her back grew rigid. He was a threat, was he not? His approach did not falter but neither did her warnings. The open wound throbbed with pain as she made little attempts to keep the distance between them from closing, but the woman could not move any farther.

He drew closer with something in his mouth. She did not observe it at first. Her anger and fear formed tunnel vision, only capturing his form and the dangerously striking orange hues. It was moss that hung upon his lips, grasp by the teeth that could very well sink into her flesh. But he didn’t. His head inclined, lowering the moss on the floor as an offering and merely saying, “I could help.”

The fierce anger that built up in her throat and sharpened her tongue as she flicked it out in anger when she snarled moments ago slowly simmered down. The genuine fear that plagued her heart, poisoning her mind with multiple scenarios that lead to her imminent death eventually fluttered away. There were many things she could have performed, and yet her body remained still. She remained cautious as ever, carefully maintaining a wary gaze when she finally said, “Why would you do that...?"

He watched her with a simple sort of curiosity.

She reacted with open hostilities at first, nothing to be surprised about there. After all had he stumbled upon her once upon a time he would not have hesitated to render  her fears correct. So why then, was his approach now as distant as he could manage from old temptations? Thinking of the company he was keeping, would Anaru be so willing to show such benevolence? Perhaps not. Thinking of everything it might mean to belong to The Order, perhaps he was already condemning himself.

She asked him a question and at first he wasn't sure what to say.

So he furrowed his brows and snorted instead. She had every absolute right to question his motives, truth be told in reverse situations he wouldn't trust himself either. He had no good answer however and the longer they stood here the more she bled out. " I guess I'm just tired of being the big bad wolf. " he nosed the moss as close as he dare. " Put this on, it will slow the bleeding." without waiting for a response he set about looking for further help among the flora.

He was looking for some Goldenseal, and felt a little delight as he located the plant with broad green leaves and little red berries. Tugging slightly at a few of them, he then proceeded back over to her and deposited them. " Look I'm an alchemist. If your not sure what that means, well just think of me like a doctor. " of course he neglected to mention he was capable of making terrible elixars just as easily as good. But for some reason he wanted to help, and he had learned a long time ago not to question himself to much. So he stood by and waited to see what might become of them both. Either way it couldn't be any worse then what had already come.
