[AW]  apple a day

It was much warmer here than anywhere else he'd come to find. While a chill still lingered in the air, it was much more bearable to the young albino. His shivering was considerably less, making his back ache less than before. It left him more time to explore and wonder than he could when he was worrying about how cold he was. Of course there was still the matter of figuring out how to return to mommy but that was something he could fret over later. For now there were far too many things to take in for him to be stuck on any one thing.

Prancing forward, eyes that littered his body darted all over to take in the scenery that was still in the state of autumn. The leaves that still clung to some of the trees looked crisp, ready to fall to the earth at any moment to join the others that were already down here. How did so many come to be anyways? He would be lying if he said part of him did not wish to climb up to the tops of one of those trees and crunch those leaves between his teeth. The ones on the ground were fine though he could tell by stepping on them that they had lost a lot of that optimal crunchiness. It just wasn't the same!!

He was looking upward, neck beginning to ache from his head tilted backward as he tried to figure out the best way up. Too bad his wings were all but useless. Even if the feathers were not a mess from mommy's doing, he'd never learned to use them anyways. She would be awfully mad if he tried to learn. The thought was certainly scary and his heart began to pick up speed in his chest when something bright red caught his eye. Had that been there just a moment before? Blinking slowly at the apple, he had no way of knowing for sure. All he knew was that he wanted to jump up there and get it. Did it taste good to chew on? Oh it would probably be fun to play with! And so, with mind settled, he charged forward, leaping in to the air in a failed attempt to catch it, gravity soon reclaiming him as he landed clumsily. Well that wouldn't do.

Freya sighed as she let her wings stretch out to scrape against the clouds as she passed, thinning them out so that the ground below may glow a little brighter with the suns gentle rays offering warmth to the creatures below. Every so often she would blow the clouds apart to creat spots for little critters to sunbathe. Honey was enjoying this peacful ride much more than her spontaneous sky diving escapades as of late. With her returned strength it was happening more and more often that Freya harnessed her true speed and nose diving towards the ground from far in the heavens.

"Hey check it out! Another wingsor!" Honey chirped against Freya's ear as his free hand pointed down towards the wood they flew over, just visable under the canopy was a bleach white shape with awkwardly flapping wings as the poor soul tried to reach something in the tree. Freya looked down as well and clicked her tongue, a smile tugging the corners of her pale lips she tilted her span to gently circle lower and lower upon the canopy, Isias had been teaching her on ways to approach wolves, always keeping the high ground and approach calmly. Announcing herself in case the soul wanted to run but coming in a little quicker than she first  wanted. Just before she crashed through the canopy she gave a few mighty flaps to her wings, body creating a shadow over the leaves before she glided through and opening, talons wrapping around a thick tree branch shaking every leaf it was connected too. Her wings slowly tucked back into her side as she gained her balance and perched upon the branch like an owl, looking down at the albino passively with big seafoam orbs.

"Hello." She murmured, voice soft and quiet as it had ever been, but at least she was the first to speak. Honey was quite proud of this and scrambled up to the top of her head to wave at the creature below.

Frowning, his body ached from crashing back down though he was quick to sit back up. He couldn't be discouraged that quickly! If anything that big red thing could make a good gift for mommy to maybe make her not as mad at him. Shaking himself, he tried once again, failing as he had before. Each time he picked himself back up, a boyish growl rising in his throat as he continued in his efforts. Why was it so high? It was only after a few more moments of failed leaps that he braced himself against the base of the tree, standing on his back legs and scrambling with his front claws in a feeble attempt to climb up. But, without thumbs or the proper claws, it proved to be impossible.

Distracted, he nearly missed the fact someone had spotted him until a great shadow passed overhead, blocking out the sun for a moment and causing him to freeze up. Oh no. Had a mean bird found him? Mommy had always warned him of the dangers of them, especially when he was smaller. He had no way of knowing that there were very few flying things that would be able to prey on him now, even if he was not especially large for a grown wolf.

A great gust of wind blew down and he cowered down against the base of the tree, wings moving up in a pitiful attempt to cover his head as the eyes across his body flickered about, watching as a creature moved to land on a branch somewhere above him. It spoke, a greeting of sorts given, but he was much too terrified to answer properly. Was it here to chase him away? "Rat is sorry. No want red thing. You have." Because obviously his mind brought him to believe he was under attack for the object that had captivated his attention. He was in no condition to try and fight for it. If this scary creature wanted it then so be it.

As Freya landed she couldn't help but notice how the creature below her huddled against the base of the tree, wings shooting upwards in the attempt to cover himself. She'd never been on the opposing side during one of these episodes, it was so often she was the one cowering behind her wings, begging for mercy to a wolf that was merely passing by. The stench of a mundane came to her nose but she disregarded it to some extent, this little male would bring no harm to her, that much she knew.

"Rat is sorry. No want red thing. You have."

So the wolf's name was Rat? Strange, but she was one to judge another wolf's characteristics. She spread her wings slightly as she spotted the red thing the wolf was talking about, an apple?

"Need, help?" She asked, "I'donwan it." She mumbled, shrinking back into her self as her wings came open more, struggling she hopped a few branches down to the one that Rat had been trying to get to, slowly reaching out she grabbed the glimmering red fruit in her talon. Unbalanced she awkwardly flapped her wings until she managed to get down to the forest floor, a small 'oof' noise leaving her lips as she fell on her chest, using her wings she gave little hops occumpanied with flaps until she was withen reaching distance of the younger male, folding her wings against her sides she leaned on her stubs to extend one hind leg out to him, offering the apple with an awkward smile on her features. slowly waving one of her bandaged stumps to try and show him she meant no harm.
