Kemma, Female Albino Crow
A tugging on one of her braids woke her from her slumber, amber eyes cracking open to glare down her familiar who had hopped away to a safe distance to caw at her. "Honestly, I wasn't gone that long Astra. Wake up! The pale crow beat its wings and landed on one of the wolf's short horns and pecked at the top of her skull. The female yawned and shook the bird away, her eyes found the sun at its peak in the sky and she laughed. "Not gone long!? The sun has burned the morning away!  What did you find Kemma?" The painted wolf rose to hooved feet and shook herself from her sleep before stepping out from under the roots from which she chose to rest. Kemma flew once more to her usual perch on Astra's horns and pointed her wolf southeast. "Halali'i Lake is much closer than we thought.. I told you to go up river last night, not down." The wolf scoffed and moved into an effortless trot, not worried for tripping on the stray roots as she headed toward the lake. "We haven't been to the lake since the snows came. I know the north is safer but I wouldn't mind a swim before you drag me back up there." The familiar fell silent, knowing better than to argue with the young wolf about it- she had a hard winter followed by a slow spring and deserved to divulge a little bit.

It had taken most of the season, but Astra had finally rounded out. The sheen had returned to her coat, a soft water repelling oil coated her feathers making them iridescent in the midday sun as she moved further south. It wasn't long before she was could make out the large lake in the distance, the light reflecting off the surface of the water winked at her through the smattering of trees between them. With a yip, Astra took off running- her hooves thumping against the earth as her stride lengthened to eat up the distance remaining. She cleared the trees closest to the bank, her steps not faltering until she collected herself at the rocky shore and leapt forward over the lake. Her striped body broke the peaceful surface with a splash that filled the basin. Her head appeared above the waves she had made as she turned herself in a lazy circle and started back toward the shore, her long tail flicking along behind her. Kemma swooped over heard, muttering something about how long it will take her dreads and braids to dry but Astra couldn't be bothered with her nagging. The water was cool against her smooth fur, but the sun was warm on her face and back. The season was about to turn, the summer temperatures were starting creep up Nidira during the day but still plummeted in the chilly spring nights.

Midnight hooves hit lake bed and with a bit of awkward struggling to find solid footing, Astra clambered out of the lake onto the shore line. She shook the water from her coat and braided mane, the sunlight catching the many beads and rings making them shine in the dark strands of dripping hair. She whipped her thin tail around, spraying excess water from the blended dark blue and purple plume. Satisfied, she took a long drink from the lake and gazed around the lake. She wanted to lay out and allow the sun to dry her before moving off again... and some food wouldn't hurt. Astra walked off down the shore, scanning the bushes along the lake for the fruit bearing variety as well as keeping one eye on the lake beside her. With a rustle of feathers, her albino familiar landed on one of her horns once more and absently took to untangling some of Astra's dreads.

Sylvaine Orru'

It was late into the evening by this point, Arios and uncle would likely try and get to wind down soon, but Sylvaine was having little of it. Ashen paws of soot collided with the cool earth grass damp upon her pads as she trotted along the edge of the lake. This place had become her home over the last two months, of course she wondered when they would move - if ever, when would she get to see more of this strange land? She wanted to see it all! Deep pink audits drew back slightly, her small tree that was growing upon her back, starting to set root and grow a fine trunk rocking with her movements. The weight of it was a bit strange to get used to, but with time she was certain she'd adapt. It's branches of fine pink were beginning to come in as well, the small leaves budding and growing with the nutrients the spring sun provided her. Eyes danced skyward, catching the movement of it through her peripherals as it swayed "Isn't this fun Vaimupuu?" she inquired with a soft giggle, paws splashing in the shallow water upon the lakes edge.

Her eyes turned back to the world in front of her, it was when she found the figure, she was incredibly tall - and lanky too. Sylvaine put on the breaks suddenly, tucking her butt down to help slow her speed causing her to skid across the ground a little bit; eyes growing wide. "Wow, look at her..." she was incredible! Her body adorned with all sorts of colors, from magickal blues to pinks and deep purples. A long whip like tail....almost cat like - it was the only comparison Sylvaine had for such an appendage, with horse like fur at the end. And a plume of feathers upon her back which extended off of her rump. Upon her head - and cascading down the back of her neck was a thick bundle of fur all tied off and sectioned. The young girls eyes drifted, taking in each feature of the woman, until she came upon her feet...where were her paws?? Ok she had to check her out!

A small wag of her tail was made before Sylvaine padded over to the woman, "Hello!" she chimed, padding perhaps...a bit too close. "You're really cool looking....how come you have toes like a goat? Did you lose your feet?" the girl erupted, bombarding the woman with questions, her eyes dancing until they found the white bird, ears perked atop her crown. "Wow! What a pretty bird!" she exclaimed.

Kemma, Female Albino Crow

Her coat dried under the afternoon sun as she wandered the shoreline and trees scouring for blackberries and blueberries, nudging them to ripeness when she found a particularly large cluster of young buds that hadn't been sought after by other animals yet. Sated for the moment, or until she traveled north to hunt, she continued to wander the shore but now looking for a place to lay low until the stars burned above to guide her silently. She was gazing off into the trees, looking for one she might climb when Kemma pecked at her ear and hopped to the tip of her left horn. The sudden change in weight caused Astra's dome to angle to the side, much to the female's annoyance. She huffed and turned her attention obediently but paused mid-step upon seeing the small creature that had appeared.

There was a pup staring at her. Wagging her tail at her even. "What? Where is...?" Her molten eyes scanned the trees erratically. A child so young, so.. special, would surely have an adult or two not long off. And yet, the sunset toned pup padded closer to her with a greeting. The doe footed female back danced in a nervous circle, using the steps to put a few extra feet between herself and the child, not that she was a threat but a parent wouldn't ask those questions before defending a child... usually. Her mother might have been the exception to that in her case. Astra's eyes danced between the darkening treeline, the pup's eager face and the tree. She blinked. No there defiantly was a tree growing from her back, roots and all. Astra thought she had seen every secret of Nidia from eternal autumn to floating islands but it seemed that some wonders actually walked the land.

The pup had a tree growing from her but was awe stuck by her hooves, the innocence made Astra smirk with a snort and stare down at her dark hooves thoughtfully. "These have always been my feet. I always thought deer but goat does make more sense..." Maybe it was her slim delicate legs that made her relate to the forest deer more but she did scramble up the sheer cliff faces as agile as any goat. She had always attributed the ability to her affinity keeping her path steady, but maybe the hooves had something to do with it too. From her azure perch, Kemma fluffed her pearly feathers, trying to not appear too flattered with the compliment even though Astra could hear the soft happy coos coming from the bird rumbling between her twilight ears. Although a familiar, Kemma was still a birdbrain at times and didn't mind being reminded how pretty her endlessly preened feathers looked. Although neither did the wolf who often spent hours cleaning her own feathers... it's hard to tell who the slight narcissist trait rubbed off from in the first place.

Molten gold orbs panned up from her own feet and scanned over the trees again, then pausing on the pup. She was healthy and clean, cared for and in good spirits. Safe. "Young one... You're not alone out here, are you? You bear a great gift... Where are your parents?" The female was growing nervous as the sun sunk lower, a cool breeze picked up over the lake and chimed the beads in Astra's dark braids. The pup was no threat to her, but if there was a coven closing in on their position, she could be pinned in moments. Or worse. Her only reassurance was Kemma's calm demeanor, still humming from her praise on the wolf's left horn.
